I am trying to take a photo and give is a smooth/clean arc as it passes arcoss the screen. Is there an easier way to do this besides placing a lot of keyframes? Sort of like it works in ProTitler…

    Thanks,

    Mark

Do you mean you would like to have your event in the shape of an arc? No problem for Vegas. Just use the DEFORM FX (see attachment:)

I want the movement to go in an arcing fashion not a straight line. In track motion you can have several locations you want the event to go on the screen (ie. from bottom left to top right to bottom right to top left). Not that I want all that movement, but I am looking to start a photo in the top left, arc it downwards to the center, then to the top right. I am having problems with the center part. It kind of goes in a “V” shape and I am looking for a half circle without the jerky effect and without the pause in the center. Just a smooth glide, but I don’t want to have to put 8 keyframes in it.

    Thanks for your help

Do you mean this? (3 keyframes).

Yes that is what I am talking about. Except instead of a “V” shape I want it to arc like a half circle. I guess that would be a better way to describe it as a half circle.

    Thanks,

A movement of half a circel with only 3 keyframes? Hmm, a nice puzzle for the coming weekend. If you would allow the use of a plugin, then it could be done.

    Unfortunately I don’t have $299 to spend.

Using the Masking tool in event pan/crop you can create a straight line, point A to point B. Then in the middle add point C and drag it down or any way you want. With the Split Tangent Tool drag the bars out horizontally, which creates a nice curve. This curve would be the path for the object/photo to follow. I would think there would be something to make it this easy, but I can’t figure it out. I attached 2 images to illustrate.

    Thanks for all your help

How many photographs do you want to have moving on a curved path?

    That’s because it can’t be done 🙁
The keyframe options in Pan/Crop (and any other FX, for that matter) are severely limited when it comes to doing the type of move you want.
All you can do is create more keyframes and attempt to modify them to get the desired curve.

    D. Eric Franks recently created an excellent tutorial called Create an Animated Vacation Postcard.
The section starting around the 4 min. mark describes the behaviour of the various keyframe options such as Linear, Smooth, etc.
