Smallest QT file with Panasonic HD 720p 24pn footage
Hi,
We are doing a full 24 minute show using panasonic HD 720p 24pn P2 footage, I wanted to know if anyone knew the best compressor setting to use to make a nice QT that isn’t over 200 MB large? I haven’t tried too many setting for it takes a while, any suggestions? Thanks

That is a very arbitrary number, because we have NO IDEA what the duration of the project you are trying to export. Need that to know what to really say.
BUT…I’d look into the Compressor options for QT7 Streaming or Download…there are several good presets there. Also, I go a lot of compressing using Sorenson Squeeze (too many clients on PC’s who have issues with h.264…go figure) and have gotten great looking results with small sizes.

24 minutes he said. For most content you could get quite good quality. If there’s a lot of action or busy images, it’s going to be compromised at 200MB.

Sorry didn’t elaborate… Well, we have a long distance relationship with our editor right now, he was moved to Ohio for his wife, and we are in Chicago, so we need to see rough cuts regularly. Obviously staring at a computer screen for 24 minutes can be tedious, so we want the quality to be as high as it possibly can, but not take forever to download to watch. And we will be doing this consistantly, for 13 episodes, I want to figure out the best way to make this work and not take forever to get it to 5 different people at different computers through an FTP site.
That’s that.

Sorry, but ya gotta compromise somewhere. You’ll have to figure out for yourself what the best pay off will be, but at some point you’re going to find out that you’re downloads take longer than you want, or that your files don’t look quite as good as you want, or probably both.
Try playing with different options for photo-JPEG and mp4 at 1/2 and 1/4 size for a start.

That’s what I figured, but wanted to see if anyone had a nice work around with ProRes 422 or something else. Thanks for the help
