    Hello,

My friend is a travelling songwriter/performer and is looking to purchase a pro-level camera to capture footage of her travels and performances for a doc. Here is her question below:

I’ve just bought a new camera (Nikon) and am about to buy a couple of video cameras for the purpose of catching shows. Can you recommend to me the smallest best handheld for when you’re really needing small, but good sound and video, and also the smallest best pro camera that would not be stupidly expensive?

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks All!

Perhaps you could be more exact about the price point. One person’s “breaking the bank” could be another’s “cheap.”

    $2000? $3000? $4000? more? less?

She is looking to spend between $1000-2000. I know. Its not a whole lot, but if you have any ideas, that would be great.

    Thanks!

She could go with one of the DSLRs, perhaps a Canon Rebel T2i or Canon 60D. However, she might be better off with one of these:

  • Canon XA10 HD Professional Camcorder
  • Panasonic AG-HMC40 AVCCAM HD
  • (not as good in low light)
