  • Slowmo not working as intended…

Posted by Kaisar Davinson on September 24, 2026 at 12:56 pm

Evening, I want to slow mo a B-roll clip that I shot at 120fps down to 24fps (basically stretch to 5x the duration), however doing so with the usual Ctrl-dragging the clip makes the footage blurry and also there’s ghosting effects everywhere (the B-roll itself is a high motion drone shot, so during the fast movement there’s double-image effects when I do this stretch over the timeline). I wonder what is the best approach for this specific problem? Thx!!

    Hello there!

Since you’re going from 120fps to 24fps, you actually have a good source for 5x slow motion. Instead of relying only on Ctrl-drag, I’d set the event to conform to the project frame rate and use Optical Flow for the resampling. In VEGAS, right-click the clip → Properties and use the option to conform the 120fps footage to the project frame rate, then set the event’s resample mode to Optical Flow.

The ghosting you’re seeing is likely from frame blending/resampling, where VEGAS combines frames during the slow-down. Optical Flow generates intermediate frames instead, which can look much cleaner for fast-moving drone footage, although very fast or complex motion can still produce artifacts. I’d also make sure the project itself is set to 24fps. VEGAS specifically recommends Optical Flow as an option for slow-motion footage.
