Seems I stil have a problem with rendering speed. I am trying to render a 1 hour timeline without special effects, but including crossfades between clips, and Vegas is quoting 9.5 hours rendering time. I am running minimal start up processes, and I have freed up as much memory as possible. PC is as follows:

    P4 2.4B 533 FSB (No Hyper Threading)
    Asus P4P800 SE Mobo
    1 GB (2×512) Corsair DDR 400 (PC 3200) memory
    Cheapo graphics card
Multiple hard drives + one USB external

I am at a loss as to what the problem coud be (if any). I have poked around the bios, but there really isn’t too much to tweak.

Is this rendering time “normal”? Do I just let it cook overnight???

    Regards,

    Ed

What is the format of the source file?
What format are you rendering to?
You say there’s no special effects. However, is the “levels” control on the track header on 100%? Are you on 3D Alpha mode instead of the default mode?

Starting with DV-AVI rendering to DV-AVI with only transitions, a one hour timeline would take well UNDER one hour.
