    Hi All,
So, I’m struggling with achieving a real decent slow motion effect.

Canon 6D DSLR shot in 50fps (IPB, best for editing).

If i take the velocity below 25% it will start to look jittery. I have tried so many different combinations using either smart/force/disable resample; using project properties as either 50 or 25 fps; deinterlace method with interpolate; progressive……basically I’ve tried any combination (so I think).
i want to get around a 5% slow motion effect….am I going to achieve this without Twixtor???
I have tried rendering the footage at say 50%, then importing it back in and trying to slow it more from here. This was a little better but still not good enough.
I have Boris Continuum Complete 7 using optical flow, but to be honest this is pretty poor and not worth the money, worse than Vegas on board velocity.

Unless I’m doing something very wrong I am stuck. I appreciate any help.

    Thanks

    Martin

I’m preeety sure you don’t have enough frames to do this. I use TWIXTOR a lot and can get down to 23% with it before it looks rubbish.

Graham is correct, you need your video files with high frame rates
(far more than 50fps) to get really great slow mo effect past 25%.
Twixtor is good, but you can only push it so far before the jiggles
    sets in.

Thanks Guys, It’s a case of getting as slow as I can before updating hardware I guess.

Pretty much….. And so that others reading this thread can have or take a considered view to slomo-ing I just completed 4 quick comparisons.

OK, the clip is from my Canon PS SX50hs PAL 1920x1080p running at 23.976fps.

Rendered at 25% Velocity with the Events set to Disabled Resample except B] which I used Smart Resample:

A] – TWIXTOR – Used TWIXTOR default and reduced to 25% – Disable Resample

    TWIXTOR at 25%

    B] – Vegas Velocity Envelope – 25% & Smart Resample

    Vegas VeloEnvelop 25% Smart Resample

    C] – Vegas Velocity Envelope – 25% & Disable Resample

    Sony VeloEnvel 25% Disable resampling

    D] – Vegas Stretch Event – 25% & Disable Resample

    Vegas Stretch 25%

So yes, undoubtedly going down to what you want, 5% (?), more frames per second would be better! I tried my best shot at this with Vegas, but there is just so much one can do when it comes to figuring and wrangling the s/w to cope. Maybe TWIXTOR support would like to butt in here and come up with an even better solution than my feeble attempts.

    Here’s the original Clip! LOL…! Blink and it’s gone . . . .

Then Twixtor would be your best bet!
