Hi everyone, I am new to the forum, but have found this community very helpful in the past.

I have a 2008 iMac with a Radeon ATI HD 2400 graphics card. I’m having trouble getting smooth playback with slow motion in Adobe Premiere Pro 6, after using warp stabilizer. The video is a little jumpy in the timeline playback when slowed down 20%. In Final Cut Pro 6 it plays just fine after smoothcam is applied. I am really warming to Premiere but the slow motion jittery effect is really a concern. Amy advice would be appreciated.

    Many thanks,

    Kenn

    Have you rendered the timeline?

If referring to jittery on-the-fly playback, then try rendering the sequence.

If referring to sub-optimal frame-to-frame motion after changing the speed of the clip (via interpret footage, speed/duration, or motion effects), check whether every 5th frame is repeated (e.g. ABCDEEFGHIJJ…). Frame blending might help. Alternatively, try exporting a lossless version of the clip at 80% speed, and then apply Warp Stabilizer to the exported clip.

If you are using Warp Stabilizer to reposition only, another potential option is the Stabilize Motion effect in After Effects. It provides more interactive control over the stabilization results. Note, however, it takes more time to set up, and may require multiple iterations.

    Hi Tero and Ivan,

Yes, the timeline has been rendered. I am trying to determine if this is a hardware issue. Ironically, frame blending seems to make the playback look even more jittery. I will try exporting the lossless version before applying warp stabilizer. I usually opt to replace with warp stabilizer in After Effects.
