Slow loading project on iMac and fast loading on Macbook
I edit big documentary project in ppro. It consists of 3TB (26 hours) source from different cameras on a disk Lacie 4TB.
I work on imac and macbook. For some reason, sometimes my project opens very quickly on a macbook and too long on the imac (it can take an hour and a half).
But sometimes, after I waited for loading and worked on the imac, then I return to the macbook, open the project there, and it loads just as long. So if I don’t return to the computer and work only on a macbook, the project opens without delay.
I just can’t understand why this is happening on my iMac? Is there a mistake here or it’s normal?Please help
–I keep the project on an external disk.
Of course I made DNxHD proxy files.
Media Cash Files and Database locations are set the same for both: Users/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/iMac 2017

Media Cache may be corrupt on the iMac.
You can delete it. It will rebuild automatically…though initially, it will take a long time. Maybe do it overnight. Should open fairly quickly after that.If its still slow, then the problem lies elsewhere.
Does the MacBook have an SSD and the iMac a spinning drive?

Yep, I already did a test:
I deleted all media cache from imac and completely restored them on the external hard drive. After that, imac is still incredibly long loaded, and macbook handled it in a few minutes.
So strange.Both have SSD 256gb. And it seems that everything was the same on both machines.
Where else could the problem be? -
Test the drive speed on on the iMac. Blackmagic and AJA have free tools to do this.
An SSD in need of a TRIM operation will perform very slowly.
