  • Slow import of Quicktime and slow playback on timeline Premiere Pro 2.0 with Multibridge Extreme

    Hello,

It seems I am getting very slow import of Quicktime file it is around 2mb file and taking about 10mins to import to Adobe Premeire Pro 2.0 with Decklink Multibridge Extreme. I have a Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe with a ASUS Nvidia Extreme N6600GT PCI-E 128mb ddr3 Graphics card.

2x1Gb Corsair memory in the blue slots on the memory bank. I am using SATA harddrive for the boot drive SATA 2. I have all the latest drivers for the board and Microsoft updates.

WHen I try ti import Quicktime the file is taking ages to load and when it does load its choppy on the timeline. Also if I open Quicktime files on the desktop in Apple Quicktime player takes around 20 secs to load a small clip and lags alot.

Has anyone had similar issues and if so what was cauing this? I think it may be the graphics card needs a faster memory on board maybe a 512mb?

    Thanks,

    Leo

    Hi
we dont have this problem at all…..
    -a8n32sli deluxe
    -4800+
    -4x300gb rais onboard
    -asus x19xt graphics 3gigs ram.
    -multibridge extreme

I don’t think its your graphics ,I think it is propbably an installation problem. Did you have quicktime installed before loading multibridge drivers?…… also is the quicktime file one you rended or captured through blackmagic codecs.

Your hardware setup should be fine….. But I know we had a few nightmare weeks getting it all configuered. Have you disabled the blackmagic desktop dislay driver?

Cant think of any other reasons.

    Hello Miles,

    I think I installed this order;

    XP PRO with SP2
    Nvidia Graphics card driver
    Motherboard drivers
    Quicktime
    Windows Media Player
    Windows Updates
    Adobe Production Studio Premium
    Blackmagic Multibridge Extreme software

The Quicktime are from AVI Adobe Premeire Pro firewire capture to AVI Microsoft DV PAL, others Quicktime Photoshop JPEG. Apple Quicktime native from Final Cut Pro etc.

Yes I disabled Video Desktop on Multibridge.

    Thanks,

    Leo

    Hi Leo
Are avi just as slow to load as quicktime? This does sound a bit wierd. Is it slow in aftereffects or just premiere. When they do land on the timeline is there a red line ubove them?

    thanks

    Hello Miles,

It seems just to be Quicktimes which are slow in both After Effects and Premeire pro to load. Yes when the Quicktime imports into Premeire pro 2 there is a red line indicating rendering is needed.

    Thanks,

    Leo

    Hi Leo
Well there you go …..the blaclmagic project settings you sellected don’t match the properties of the quicktime file you are trying to play. What you need to do is either re-render the quicktime file in blackmagic settings or recapture it or find a blackmagic premiere preset that likes your files. There should not be any redline.

    Hello,

I think the crackle has stopped now. I re-installed the XP machine in this order.

    Windows XP PRO
    Service Pack 2
    Nvidia Graphics Driver
    Windows Updates
    AMD CPU Driver
    Motherboard Drivers
    Windows Media Player
    Adobe Production Studio Premium
    Blackmagic Software for Multibridge Extreme
    Quicktime software latest one

I then opened Adobe Premiere Pro 2 and added a video clip with a track of music as a Blackmagic DV PAL 4-3 project and it works fine.

I will test 10 bit SD 4:2:2 shortly as well. So seems the problem was an installation order problem maybe?

    Thanks,

    Leo
