    Hello!

Just a bit stumped on how to make the 4 ICONS (cherries, dollars, etc) randomize and then stop in their positions in 3 slots. I’m sure that this is pretty easy to do using expressions, but I haven’t a clue what they might be? If anyone has a minute to head me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    JAK

Shouldn’t bee too tough. You’re talking about the icons just replacing each other, not the old style slot machine where they’re on a cylinder, right? Does the replacement happen at a constant speed and then just stop, or does it slow down? How long is each icon on screen?

    Hey Dan.

Thanks for responding. It’s a new slot machine, but we need them to move down…. like a cylinder, but not curved (just straight from top to bottom quickly – it’s like a strip of white paper) and slow (quickly) to their positions.. so, that when they stop in the middle there is an ICON on the top and bottom that is cut-off by the slot machine frame (I created an alpha mask of the slot machine frame. Frankly, anything that you can recommend will be great… but, that’s essentially what we’re trying to do.

I think the easiet way would be to put all your icons on one vertical strip, apply the Offset filter, and then just keyframe the vertical offset and it will automatically wrap around for you. Keyframe as many rotations as you want and then ease to a stop.

make a graphic of the four symbols one above the other.
applay to it Effects -> distort -> Offset
animate the propeties of the effect
duplicate the layer twice, and change it’s animation, so it won’t be the same.
    and you’re done.

    Exactly!

Thank you so much…. pretty easy. But, it does the trick. I appreciate you responding so quickly. Thanks.
