    Hi All
Well, I received my copy of FCP last night and went to install (after performing a complete backup of my main drive) but ended up stopping (and re-installing the backup) because after inserting the second disk the installer asked for (which was the Apple Loops DVD) showed “16 hours” left for the install. What? What was that? 16 hours!!!!!
So I jumped online and have found several folks talking about how it took 4 to sometimes 7 hours to load this puppy. Seven hours!!
Is there a quicker way to install FCP? If I used Custom install would that help?
I’m getting ready to try again when I get home this evening and it sure would be nice if I could get it all in before tomorrow morning!!
    Thanks!
    Kirk

To get the FCS to install faster you’ll need to take a shot of alcohol after every install disk pops out…no wait…that just makes it seem like it installs faster.

Usually for a Mac tower it runs around 4-6 hours, and longer on a laptop. So I’m not surprise that it’s going to take a while for a iMac. You can uncheck files that you don’t want to install. Media from Motion, LiveType, Soundtracks, and DVD Studio takes up the bulk of the time to install. Since you really can’t run Motion on an iMac you can uncheck that. Chances are it will not take 13 hours, but you should set aside the computer for the day.

    Good Luck,
