    Hello Everyone,
I just put up my first personal website and a sampling of some of my recent work: motion graphics (almost all done in AE), still design, photos, and videos. I realize this is a little off topic for the AE forum, but so much of my work has been made possible by everyone here through all their generosity, and I thought people may be interested in seeing it.

I will be adding more to the site in the near future, but just moved and don’t have the connection speed to do it. If you have the time please look around my site and let me know what you think of my work.

the site can be found at: https://www.synaptek.nologies.co.uk/

and for those of you who don’t have time to browse the whole site my gallery portion is under “the experience” section, which can be found at:
    https://www.synaptek.nologies.co.uk/gallery.htm

Thank you for your time and I look forward to comments and suggestions.

Also, thank you to everyone on this site for all the help you give to everyone, you are a great inspiration, and reaffirm my belief in people as a whole.
    Thank you,
    Matt H.

Took me awhile to actually discover your navigation. I clicked all over the place.

The navigation circles have white lettering on top of them until you mouse over. I think your css needs some tweaking.

When I got to a video, it opened Windows Media with no errors, however the screen was blank and I could hear audio.

I’ll take some more looksies at it tomorrow at work where I have broadband, but one thing I definitely don’t like: the navigation. If the invisible labeling is intentional, it is (pseudo-)stylishness in the wrong place and even worse than my hardly readable eroded headlines on my website (yeah, it’s intentional and has a message there). And why the exaggerated resolution recomendation? not saying your site should look good on a cell phone, but not everyone has big screens even today. Imagine a potential client (big boss with lots of bucks) trying to look at your website on his highend small screen sub-notebook. He will be scared away…

Thank you both for your critiques and thoughts.

to Brett Williams: I am assuming you are using a Mac and browsing with Safari, as that is the only browser I have run into the problem with text showing up as white over the buttons. I am intending
to have the text invisible as I have it set to size zero in my css, but in this browser it still shows up. As far as I can tell it is the browser’s interpretation of the code that is off as my CSS and html check out fine with the W3. But, if you happen to know of any tricks to get around this problem I would love to know it. Thanks.
As far as the video not showing up I haven’t run into that problem yet, so I will have to look into it. I will also be adding some quicktime versions for all the video in when I get more settled so hopefully that will at least give people another option to view things.

to Mylenium: I understand your feelings about the invisible text on the navigation. I have found for my personal enjoyment on art sites I like it when the navigation is not obvious and sometimes takes some looking for. I do have other specific reasons for wanting the navigation somewhat difficult to find, but I won’t get into that. However, I still think you have a good point and I will make some changes to make the site a little more friendly for the average user.
Also thanks for noticing the screen resolution, that is the resolution I designed it at and that I think it looks best at. But it was designed for use on screens as low as 800X600, I just forgot to put that on there. So THANKS I will be editing that as soon as I get the chance, I don’t want to scare anyone away. 🙂

Thank you both again very much, I appreciate the comments and hope to hear some more in the future.

    Thanks,
    Matt H.
