So my new laptop finally arrive (Toshiba Qosmio X875 3D)

Unfortunately, it has that big bucket of fail called Windows 8, so I’m learning as I go.

Whenever I start pro12, the screen dims slightly and the 3D emitter turns on.

I’m able to turn off the emitter using the suggested keystrokes, but I’m not able to turn the brightness up to full.

When I shutdown vegas, the screen automagically goes bright again.

    What gives?

[Rick Antonio] “Whenever I start pro12, the screen dims slightly and the 3D emitter turns on.”

Wow, I don’t even know what a “3D emitter” is; and I don’t think Vegas Pro even has the capability to dim the screen. It sounds like you need to call Toshiba and ask why their laptop behaves this way. I’m sure it’s something tablet users would like but as you said, Windows 8 is just the wrong OS for a laptop. Good luck.

The emitter is just a little doohicky on the top of the screen that allows you to use the 3D shutter glasses.

I’m sure it’s just sumthin in the settings.

The emitter automagically turns on when you pop in a DVD, so it probably just senses the same thing when I start Vegas.

Anyways, other than that, it seems to work fine.

It’s lightyears ahead of my old Satellite and 1080p footage plays clearly in the preview screen while editing.

I’ve only had time to upload a couple of renders (my connection sucks)

Turned out to be an easy fix (drive update)

Now my brightness buttons work as they should and it no longer turns on the 3d emitter when I start Vegas.

Glad you figuted it out. Keeping drivers up to date is always important. Especially with a new OS like Windows 8 where everything is new.
