Having a problem with an io,

running a dual 2.3 power pc mac with FCP 2 studio. We’re having trouble with realtime previews on an external monitor. Settings are configured the best I think–

    – IO is set on output settings (mirror on desktop enabled, same problem when disabled also)
    – external video is set to all frames
    – sequence is fully rendered
    – have trashed preferences and rebooted, still no luck.

The monitor does display a freeze frame of the time marker point when the sequence isn’t playing real time and when I drag the time marker the image DOES follow in the monitor. It just won’t play sequences in real time.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

    Rick

[Rick Neely] “The monitor does display a freeze frame of the time marker point when the sequence isn’t playing real time and when I drag the time marker the image DOES follow in the monitor. It just won’t play sequences in real time. “

then your timeline does not match your output.
reset the easy setup and try again,

do not let fcp choose the settings for the timeline- it can set it to frame sizes that do not output correctly
