sliding text down moving object
Hi.
Im currently making an intro sequence and was hoping someone here could help me. I have made my subjects into silhouettes, and the one shot requires the silhouette to pick up a glass and drink the intro credits. Now i know i could animate the text one letter at a time to slide down the glass as they drink it, but was wondering if there was a more simple way to somehow track a path down the side of the glass for the sliding text to follow.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think I would track the object, position and rotation, then add that info to a Null, and then if you parent your text to the Null it will follow the glass. Now all you need to do is animate the Text with keyframes and it should slide down the glass even though the glass is moving.

So if you follow that, then animating the sunglasses down his face would be the equivalent of what you want to do with your text.

You can create your text on a path under Text > Path Options and animate it to travel along that path. If the glass is an element you created in AE you can parent the text to the glass and everything should stick together pretty well (the path will re-orient with the glass). If it was part of the source footage then you’ll need to use trackers to get the text path to re-orient.
