Skipping video – please help.
Hi All,
Please help, I’m at a lost on what to do.
I’m using FCP on my iMac for some video editing.
When I play back in final cut, everything plays fine, there is no skipping, everything is on track, every syncs up and works fine.When I’m done, and I render all my video, and I go to convert, using quicktime conversion, my video always skips.
I have been converting to h.246 or .avi. The end result always has skips in it. Visable ones.
Am I using the wrong format to convert? Is it my computer?
I am using two different cameras, with footage from both. But I capture both in the same way. I’m using an HD one, and a non hd one.
I want to convert to something that will play it back properly, and in a good clear format, that shows my HD.

What is your frame rate? Also what is your time line setting at and also the video setting?

Yeah the settings of your timeline would help determine what you are running into since you are using HD footage and None HD Footage on the same timeline.
Just a suggestion, If you’re final Output is SD DVDs, I recommend you downconvert and capture the HD footage to a cropped SD QT file. Lots easier at the end.

I’m experiencing a skipping video problem in Final Cut Express, for the first time today. Working with
analog Hi8 footage, captured via a Digital8 camcorder into iMovie 6. Experienced no problems playing
the captured footage in iMovie. Exported to DV files via iMovie to archive raw footage. The DV clips play fine with Quicktime. Now, upon importing DV clips to Final Cut Express (which I am just learning) for new editing, I am experiencing skipping video in the viewer only. Imported video plays fine in timeline.
