Hello! I’ll be using Sketch and Toon on Cinema 4D R15 to create a pseudo-3D animation.

I’ll have a simple character in a totally-flat environment (no shadows, no reflections etc, just a single color on the background and a single color on each object).

I set Sketch and Toon to draw lines only when parts of the same object/character overlap (ie when a hand overlaps with the same character’s chest). What I’d like to do is to set the Sketch and Toon stroke “erase” the parts of the character that it’s drawn on and see what’s behind through the stroke. How could I achieve that?

    Thanks!

not directly, I think. You would probably have to try it in post with a multipass render, S&T has settings in it for multipass rendering and you can ask for a separate alpha channel (for the lines)

Thanks for responding! How can I do that? Could you point it out for me?

No “Multipass” tab on my end! I’ve got R15, maybe they’ve changed it. Will have to look it up.

in 15 you’d have to check Post Render in the S&T Render tab to get the Multipass tab to show but it is there. The line quality is a bit different with that checked but hopefully it’s good for what you want.
