  • Sizzle Reel for TV Show – ideas on what effects to use

Has anyone worked on Sizzle Reels for TV Shows that are used to get financing through Networks? I am working on a Reality TV show along the lines of a home improvement show with a “mental” twist to it so I am thinking that it needs to be content driven (smart as opposed to gimicky) – I show clips about what the show is about and what will happen on the show.

I have good clips from the show in my Trailer, but I was wondering what types of Effects might be needed to spice it up. In the case of this show I am thinking less is more, but wanted to get other feedback. I have added some titles to walk the viewer through what is happening in the clips but have not done anything fancy in AE yet. just some titles with transitions etc. I have also added some effects to some of the audio (echos and created echo effects by repeating some lines etc)

any [creative] thoughts that might be cool to add….?

    thanks!

look at trapcode shine. cost money, but you get that angelic lighting effect that is on just about every reality TV show at some point. Blurs and over exposures as transitions between shots always looks good. use things that relate to the shows content. Think pyschologically about what an effect might mean or enhance in the context of the content it is being used with.
Music is the key too. Effects are great, but music holds it all together.
