  • Size of exported videos has changed out of nowhere.

Posted by Max Smith on April 5, 2016 at 11:08 pm

    Hello,

Starting about a week ago my file size for my exported videos has increased.

Before when I was exporting a 15 second video the file size was around 5-10 MB.
Now all of the sudden my file size for the exact same video is about 60MB.

I’m wondering what may have caused this and how to fix it. I have not made and major changes in the past 2.

    My export settings are

    Format: H.264
    Dimensions: 960 x 540

    Frame Rate: 23.976
    Field Rate: Progressive
    Aspect: Square Pixels (1.0)
    TV Standard: NTSC
    Profile: High
    Level: 4.0

    Bitrate Encoding: VBR, 2 Pass
    Target Bitrate (Mbps): 2.5
    Maximum Bitrate: 4.5

    Keyframe Distance 72

Please let me know if there is something that may be causing this or if you think you may know a solution on how to fix this.

Thank you so much for your time and help.
    Max

h.264 is the codec as opposed to the format (or wrapper). What is the file extension of your finished renders? Did that change?

Are you working from a custom preset you use regularly?

    System:
    Dell Precision T7600 (x2)
    Win 7 64-bit
    32GB RAM
Adobe CC 2014 (as of 7/2015)
    256GB SSD system drive
4 internal media drives RAID 5
Typically cutting short form from HD MP4 and P2 MXF.

    The file extension is .mp4

I am working from a custom preset, however I tried the export without using my usual preset with the same settings and I got the same result.
