September 14, 2006 at 7:01 amYou don’t need a chart if you use Photoshop 7.0 or above.
When making a new file there are presets for all the sizes you mentioned
as well as their aspect ratio conversions in NTSC and PAL.Best Regards

1. take a frame from the video you want to put type over an export it as a pict. bring it into photoshop, select all, copy and open a new document. the new doc will be the size you need for video. it may not look right because of pixel aspect ratio, but it will be the correct dimensions
2, google it.. try “video formats explained”, “video aspect ratios explained”, “high def” etc
there are tons of resources for just this, even here at the cow

What you say is untrue.
Apple has a totally different pixel aspect ratio than Adobe Premiere, AE, etc.
Therefore, the presets are not correct if you plan to finish on FCP.https://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=36836
Andrew, you’ll find your chart there.
[Apple] Other software programs may use different aspect ratios and recommend different imported graphics sizes. However, if the material is going to be edited in Final Cut Pro, the above recommendations should be followed.
