“Like the old Mac Pro, the new computer will still have a handle built into the top of the machine. Schiller said that the new Mac Pro would ship sometime this fall, as will a new version of Final Cut Pro that unfortunately not previewed on stage. Apple hasn’t disclosed pricing as of yet.”

I don’t remember saying a ship time on new FCPX only that the team was working on new features to take advantage of new performance of Mac Pro.

He mentioned this in the Keynote – when they cut to the picture of that guy sitting in front of a 3 4K monitor FCPX setup. Just said that the FCPX team is working on optimizing the software to take advantage of the new MacPro features that were being announced on stage.
No date mentioned. But I feel that the 10.1 release will come out with this new machine.

Similarly, there was this from apple’s Mac Pro page:

Any clue there? True background rendering when you have the firepower?
For me, this has always been about “retina” monitoring. 4k and beyond ecosystems that easily enable pro video and pro photo/publishing workflows is the endgame. It was easy to see that we wouldn’t see an update until the technology to drive it was available.
Now the question is, will we see a reasonably priced 4k display from them when the computer is available?
