Simple question about Text Animation presets
I am creating animated text credits for a move and I have this one scene where a little boy runs over the text with a lawmower and scatters the text. I am using the “Blow Away” preset found under the “misc” folder in the Animation Presets.
Its a overhead shot and the boy enters the screen from the right and then “mows” over the text and exits on the left side of the screen. The trouble I am having is the animator effects the text from left to right and I need it to effect the text from right to left. This should be really simple to figure out but for the life of me I can’t. I have figure out lots of other complex sorts of things for various other animations I needed but this one simple task is eluding me.
I am using AE 6.5 in windows XP.

Select the text layer and press UU to reveal modified properties. You should see a Range selector with an animated Offset property. It’s that Range selector that determines which characters are affected when. The Randomize Order property seems to be set to On. If you want non-random order, you need to set this to Off. Then modify the Start, End, and Offset properties to get the behavior that you want.

Thanks. I had already turned off the randomizer. I will give this a go.

That appeared to only reverse the animation so instead the characters blow onto the screen rather then blow off. I need to reverse the order of the characters that get blown off the screen. right now with the name Chris Ong blows of with the C first and the H, R I etc. I need it to start with the G and the then the N, O, S etc.

I just modified the Offset from 100 to 0. (The default was from -50 to 100.) I then changed the Shape to Ramp Up. This gives me the behavior that it seems that you want.

I have been having the same problem with the “Zoom Forward” preset. The animation is almost exactly what I want, but the characters are animating from right to left, instead of left to right. The word GRACE, for example, should start with teh “G” dropping in first; instead the “E” drops in. I have messed with everything including offest, and can’t get it right.

Did you modify the Shape property in the Advanced animator group of the range selector? The default value is Ramp Down; this means that the animated scale values “ramp up” (increase from left to right) within a selected set of characters. Changing the Shape value to Ramp Down makes the values decrease from left to right within a selected set of characters. The result with the Zoom Forward animation preset is that the characters in ‘GRACE’ fly in from behind the camera with the ‘E’ coming in first instead of the default behavior of the characters flying away past the camera with the ‘G’ leaving first.

I’m having a similar problem: I am using tea leaves as my animating preset. The preset animates my text clockwise but I need it to go counterclockwise. I don’t know how to fix this. I tried to transform my text layer by flipping it horizontal, but this reversed the text as well as the animation. Any suggestions?
Also, when I opened the link you posted I received a file with random symbols on it.
