Hi, guys. I’ve brought in an alpha silhouette from another program and I’m trying to figure out how to run an outline around the entire object like you might see in a cartoon (either black or white outline). I thought Render -> Stroke would work, but it seems that is merely for masks.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Nick

    Hi,

Try: Layer>Auto-Trace then apply your stroke.

    Salut.

using a glow with the correct parametres will produce a stroke too if you dont wanna use a mask, else there was a plugin for puffin lounge i think, called border patrol.
Other than that you can also try duplicating the layer, blur it from an amount equal to your outline radius, boost up alpha levels, and set a tint to the color you want, and then have this layer behind the original one, a bit dirty but works pretty well.(it’s basically what glows does, but allows for more tweaking)

Thanks a lot, guys. The mask method had some issues and the blur + alpha levels was familiar to me from PS, so I tried it and it works well. Thanks!
