  simple nesting question

  If I edit sources together in an FCP timeline and nest them, I can duplicate the resulting nested material. But if I open one of the duplicate layers and change something, it only changes it in that one layer. Is there a way to make changes in all the duplicate layers the way after effects does? How do I do this?
