Simple Ken Burns style zoom and hold plugin for fcpx

November 23, 2022 at 12:44 amHey guys!
I am looking for a zoom plugin that works like the ken burns, but holds its crop position once it arrives until you want to move it to another position. I am making it sound over complicated, but basically just a simple and clean pan+zoom/crop zoom plugin that works well. I am a YT editor so the reason I dont simply just keyframe the scale and position is that sometimes my subject is in the corner of the video and I want a clean slow zoom, but it always ends up zooming in unevenly that way and you see outside the frame where the black screen is, unlike the ken burns effect, which crop zooms. It is also too frustrating and time consuming to ken burns a clip and then try and align the next clip to hold that position.
P.S. is there a discord for video editors or final cut pro?
Best,
Elijah.

November 25, 2022 at 7:35 pmMotionVFX, XEffects, and others have movement plugins such as this that may do what you’re looking for. You’re just going to have to shop around. Or keyframe one manually, copy it, then Paste Attributes to place the same keyframes on all the other clips at one time.

November 26, 2022 at 1:38 amDylan Bates (Final Cut Bro) just released the perfect plugin for you. He’s already updated it a few times in the past week with some fixes and user suggestions. Bonus, it’s also on sale right now.
I’ve been using a smattering of free and paid plugins that never quite did everything I needed. This one plugin now covers 90% of my needs.
