i have made an edit and it is completely progressive footage. if i encode it onto dvd with interlaced footage. would there be any visual loss of quality or artifacting. the dvd will most likley be encoded lower fields first.

i have already encoded the progressive edit to dvd lower field first and that was fine. but what if there are a mixture of edits, some progressive some interlaced?

    cheers

Well, you’ll certainly see some differences, but it should not pose any problems. Obviously the right settings/ interporetation for the interlaced footage is of key importance. I wouldn’t worry about the progressive stuff. Either the edit suite takes care to duplicate the frames and derive frames from it or your exporter/converter does.
