Simple DVD Architect question
I’ve looked at several tutorials but haven’t been able to find anything on this: All I want to do is make a DVD menu with my custom background (which I’ve made), on top of which is a single “Play” button (from the library, which is in place) which, when pressed, plays my single video program.
My particular problem is that I can’t find anything that talks about how to import the MPEG2/AC3 files into DVD Architect without dragging them onto the menu to do it, which makes a button out of it (which I don’t want).
I just need to get my content together with my menu and button such that the content is selectable when I go to program the play button.
Can anyone help and/or point me toward a tutorial that addresses this?

I’m not sure that I follow you. Is the “Play” button text or a graphic? If it’s text, just right-click the button that’s created by default and select Button Style | Text Only and then change the text to the word “Play”. You now have a button that just says Play.
If the play button is a graphics on the background menu you created, drop your video into the asset tree on the left, then use Insert | Empty Button and go to the button’s Action and set the Destination to point to your video. This will create a rectangular highlight in the shape of the button. If you want a different shaped button then you need to read the chapter on Custom Menus and Masks in the help file several times because that’s way more involved.

My question (John) wasn’t so much about buttons as how to get my media into the app in such a way that I could get it to play from a button that was unrelated to the button I would get by dragging the MPEG2 file onto the work area.
It looks like I can find it on Stephen’s tutorial.

Perhaps I wasn’t clear in my post but I told you how as well… you just drop the media into asset tree on the left where all of your menu assets are. You can just drop it on the root node but anywhere that is not a menu will do.

Yep, thanks John. That wasn’t meant as a “snip” at you– I just liked Stephen’s step-by-step thing to see if I’d missed something along the way of getting to where I was at the time. And, there’s always the chance I overlooked it in your post as well.
