  Simple Alpha and effects question

  Hi all.
  Quite easy to describe less so to accomplish in my taste.
  I’d like to apply styles to a shape in a layer.
  Since I am going to use that shape inside a computer program, I need the styles impact only (with an alpha), as the underlying image, the shape, will sometimes get a texture, sometimes just be a different color and so on. but I need the effect on top of it to remain the same.

  For example, an emboss effect on a circular shape that would save only the whites, so I can apply it on any color or texture…

  Am I making sense here ?
