January 23, 2009 at 2:49 amHi John,
yeah check this matrix trailer out, it’s in the first few secs, where he touches the mirror then it spreads up his arm. I’m currently using vegas 6 pro. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UM5yepZ21pI

January 23, 2009 at 1:17 pmYou can get a liquid effect by using a Bump Map driven by a Noise Texture from generated media. Animating the noise texture would animate the ripples of the liquid. You cannot have it morph up someones arm in Vegas alone. That would require a 3D application and particle generator to simulate the liquid and a match moving program to integrate it back with the original footage. Maybe you could fake it with 2D masking? It wouldn’t look as good but it might work.

January 29, 2009 at 12:35 amThanks John i’m gonna give that a go, and see what happens. One other question. If I were to use this effect to cover a moving individual without the morph effect of it moving up an arm for example, like in this silver surfer trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3EC_V9A-rw
would I be able to match the movement of a person in motion, or would I need a 3D application as well? If so what would you recommend software wise? I’m using vegas 6 by the way.Thanx for reading,

January 31, 2009 at 4:52 amThe silver surfer is probably done in a 3D application. Pick your favorite: 3DS Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, Lightwave, etc. You could probably use Poser, Carrara Pro or even the free DAZ Studio to animate the character although without motion capture it might not be believable. The other hard part is match moving them back into the scene. You would need match moving software like MatchMover Pro, Boujou, SynthEyes, PFTrack, etc.
