    Hi, I’m totally new to AE and need some help. I have some fly in text with video playing inside. The text is on a green back ground. I keyed out the background and want the remaining text to have an extruded look trailing behind it as it flys in. Sort of like a comet’s trail. I tried motion blur but it doesn’t do what I want. I nested it thinking that it was trying to blur the keyed background as well but I still don’t get an effect. Is there an easy way to accomplish the look I’m after? Any help is appreciated.

    have a look at these effects:

    Time->Echo and also
    CC Wide Time

    Pre-Compose your animation first, then apply either of these effects. Have a tweak, see how it goes, if that’s not what your after let us know.

    Also, with motion blur you can change the amount of blur by going to Composition Settings and adjusting the shutter speed

    good luck
