  • Should you be able to view a DVCPro50 timeline realtime on your NTSC monitor?

Posted by Chris Baldwin on March 13, 2006 at 7:05 pm

I have a DVCPro50 timeline that I can view in my viewer window but not in realtime on my NTSC monitor? In fact if I want to be able to hear off the timeline I have to change the view settings to “External Video: Off” otherwise I don’t get video to the ntsc monitor and I don’t get audio.

    Any suggestions?

    ahhh…. nope… DVCAM DSR11.

I just assumed firewire was firewire though.

I rented the DVCPro50 deck to log and capture and don’t have it anymore.

    Any other options for me?

Different signal type…DVCPRO 50 vs DVCAM.

The only options are a DVCPRO 50 deck or capture card.

I wish that were the case. If so, I’d be able to monitor my DVCPro HD renders through my cheapo Canon Camcorder and to my SD monitor. No way in hell. 😉

    Ok then…

someone should make a fcp plugin that at least lets you watch a downres reference quality signal to the monitor. Its playing in the viewer…

Its not a software thing Chris, its a hardware thing. The plugin you want is a Blackmagic or Kona card.

Both the AJA and Decklink cards can play DV50 (and many other things) through their component or SDI outputs. Given that you can get one of those for well below $1000, it’s a steal!
