Should we shoot on a PAL camera or a NTSC camera?
I am editing a film that has been 80% shot at DVCPRO HD 720p60 with a Panasonic P2 camera. Now the director is in China and has two options of cameras to shoot with: Either a Panasonic P2 camera that shoots PAL or a Sony PMW-EX1 that shoots NTSC – but the director feels more comfortable with the Panasonic. I figure if we get the footage on PAL I’ll have to convert it somehow but would it lose a lot of quality? I want the director to feel comfortable but I also don’t want to have compromised footage.
Thoughts?

Many Panny cameras can be set for either system. Check to see if the camera can be set up for a system frequency of 59.94 (It’s in the Other menu). Then you can shoot 720P60. Our HPX500 can shoot either 59.94 or 50Hz which would be PAL (DVCPro HD 720P50.
