Should my Kona2 card give me a performance boost for DV Playback?
So I bought a Kona2 card to work on some HD projects…
The thing is, I thought I would be able to use the Kona card to help take some “pressure” off the CPU in terms of playback quality when applying effects/filters/etc to regular SD DV material on the timeline. Right now however, if I use any of the Kona settings, I seem to actually need to render more stuff than I would had I just used FCP’s standard settings.
Any idea on what I may be doing wrong? Am I expecting too much from this card?

yes you are. The kona 2 is a capture card. What you need is a great Graphics card. It is the graphics card that has a proc on it that can do a lot of the work the computers proc does. The Kona 2 lets you capture with more codecs and it also can take a 525i clip and upres it to HD and it can down res HD as well.
