I’m a Final Cut expert, but motion graphics noob.

I have a scene where I’ve inserted graphics on a wall. An actor walks by the camera and I’d like to have him walk in front of the graphics I have inserted. Is the best way to do that to create a travelling matte for him as he walks by and make a layer with him above the graphics?

I’m not sure if rotoscoping should be used (or even exactly what the term means).

Could you help steer me toward the technique I should use. And do you know if there is a tutorial for something similar?

    Any help is appreciated!
