July 19, 2007 at 6:06 pmI’d stay then right where you are until you see something that leads you to believe you’ve a problem. The software itself is mostly (if not all) installed by the first disk, and the rest are the templates and media only. so if you see the media for this in each of the apps, you’re probably OK.

July 20, 2007 at 4:19 ami know you’ve all been waiting on pins and needles, but just letting you know that i reinstalled everything again today, from OS X on up, and it worked flawlessly. all discs were read fine UNTIL i put in the first FCS 2 disc (just like yesterday). i popped it in about 10 times. no dice. so i swapped out DVD drives (went back to my original apple drive that came with the G5) and ‘voila!’, all FCS 2 discs were read and installed without a hitch. so it appears it was my newer (dual-layer capable) LaCie burner that was the culprit. anyway, i’m editing away in FCP 6, with 1080i clips playing without the shift field problems.
of course, my fingers are still crossed, assuming SOMETHING is going to blow up soon…
