Should I partition my internal hard drive on Mac Book Pro?
When should you partition a hard drive. Is there any particular reason? I like the idea because it keeps the hard drive organized. I can use one partition for the Applications and the other for my FCP files.
Does anyone know when you should partition a drive? Or is it just personal preference.

You normally do it for personal preferences. I partition so that I can use unstable/Beta OSes with out effect my normal one.
I also partition for a backup database.

It’s best to have media files on a different hard drive not a different partition. What a different partition is good for is to have a different operating system and apps. So, for example, if you have an old version of FCP that also needs an old version of OS X or even 9 and an old version of QT you can set up a partition for just that. But the media files belong on an external drive if there is no room for an extra internal one.
