Should I mix HVX200 footage with DVX100 footage in documentary?
I shot a documentary on the Panasonic AG-DVX100. I was planning to purchase the HVX200 to shoot the opening scenes for the film, which include some underwater stuff that I thought would look really cool in HD.
I have several concerns before making the purchase:
1. Will it be a huge noticeable difference going between HD 24p and 24p shot on the dvx100 during the film?
2. Will there be any problems editing both SD and HD footage on the same timeline?
3. Is the only way to obtain HD footage by recording to the P2 cards? From what I’ve read, the dv tapes only record 25mbps, is that correct?
4. What would you do in my case? Would you continue to shoot the film with the DVX100 or switch over to the HVX200 to obtain HD footage?
Just to note, the scene that will be shot with the HVX200 will be over 10 minutes long in the final video and would not not jump back and forth between HD and SD footage every 20 seconds. It may go 10 minutes HD and then 10 minutes SD.
