You could transfer the footage, but I’d stay native until the end and let your Kona tranfer it down to SD… Keep the camera long enough to capture it as HDV, or use your Kona tocapture it to ProRes, then let your Kona do the heavy lifting to get the master on to betacam…
Course if you don’t have an intel mac, this isn’t the way to go…
The answer to your question depends on a lot of other factors… like which Kona? Which Mac? Which version of FCP?
I’d not shoot hDV at all myself… for a few more dollars rental you could shoot with an HDX 200 and REALLY get a much more convincing film look. HDV cameras all don’t do that as well as that panasonic format. Plus no tape transfers needed.
