Shooting with HVX200 & DVX100A cameras
I have a project coming up that we are going to be mixing the HVX200 HD and DVX100 SD footage. This is going to be for a web series, but I want to keep the option of going to DVD. Right now I am considering shooting the HVX in 720P/30FPS and the DVX anamorphic squeeze in 30P. Will import at 30 and edit in 29.97 HD timeline.
We want the DVX to look like Behind the Scene footage, so the resolution change is ok. Or should I edit in a SD 29.97 timeline?? Remember, I still want the option to go to DVD.
Am I missing something?? Any other ideas or routes would be greatly appreciated….
I’m hopefully going to be able to shoot a test before principle photography, but just wanted to get an idea beforehand.

oh yeah, and to add more the madness, we might shoot with the EX1 as the HD cameras. I should then shoot at 1080i/30fps??

To keep frame RATES consistent, which is the big thing to worry about, you should probably shoot 1080i60 with the HVX-200. That is a 29.97 frame rate, and that will mix better with the EX footage. Two 1080 formats opposed to 720, 1080 THEN 480 footage.
