  • Shooting higher 4:3 resolution on T2i?

    Hi there.

I’m looking to shoot footage for a presentation in 4:3 ratio for the screen that will be used. The only thing is that I’m limited to 640×480 resolution when shooting on T2i with that ratio.

I don’t really want to shoot in full HD and crop because then I’m losing the top and bottom of the image and a lot of visual drama.

I guess I could just shoot 640×480 and live with it, but more would be nice…

    Is there a solution?

    Thanks

[Daniel Hughes] “I don’t really want to shoot in full HD and crop because then I’m losing the top and bottom of the image and a lot of visual drama.”

You’re losing space left and right of the footage, aren’t you? Or did I misunderstand your quote?

I can’t imagine a technical solution, but are you using Magic Lantern with your T2i?
If so, you can use a custom 4:3 cropmark, that can help with framing the shot.
Or you could use some transparancy tape with hand-drawn cropmarks and stick it on your camera…

    Just my two cents…

I didn’t know Magic Lantern offered that!

But what I was meaning was, when one shoots in HD they lose from the top and bottom of the frame, and then when you crop are cutting off the sides, but also getting less of a vertical angle than you potentially could :/

    Thanks a lot! 🙂
