I have been hired to shoot a local high schools football season. I will be using theDVX-100 for the stands cam. You use this for recruiting for colleges. I am not concerned with that. What I am wondering is what are the best settings for shooting with the HVX-200 and I will have the FS-100 firestore. I tend to shoot roughly 75 to 85 minutes of footage per game. We do plan to shoot in HD and this camera is on field level. I want to shoot this so when I get in to post the slo-mo is breath taking.

I am going out Aug 25 to test on the scrimmage. Game one starts Aug 30th

Well it’s going to be tough with one camera. You can’t really switch instantly to slow-mo. It’s either shoot at speed or stop recording and switch to slow-mo. Assuming you actually want every second of a game recorded you’d need two cameras. Or if that’s not important then switch to slow motion whenever things get interesting.

It sounds like he is using 2 cameras – a DVX100 that is going to be up in the stands (don’t know if it’s locked down with a wide angle adapter or handled by a camera op), and the HVX200, that will shoot everything slo-mo, which I think has to be HD, right?

Guessing it’ll all down-convert to SD, which can now nicely be laid out and done in one sequence in Final Cut Studio 2.

Yes I am shooting the wide angle on the DVX 100 with operator. I will be on the field strictly for Highlight footage. We use the wide angle to sell as recruitment footage to the players. The field camera angle is used for a year end DVD.I got 40-55 plays per game lastyear to choose from or should I say useable shots. I was planning to down convert I have FCP6.0. My audience thought last years coverage was breath taking from a DSR 170. I have also signed up 2 other high schools to cover, and we are asked to film a game of the week and this will be posted on a Recruitment web site.
