Shoooting HDV 1080 at 24p onnJVC
Posted by Rajarshi Basu on January 28, 2008 at 6:13 pmHi,
I’m going to be editing a feature film shot on a JVC camera. Don’t know the model number as yet. But its going to be shot at 24p. and edited on FCS 2. FCP 6. CC using Color.
1. Can i just open a 24p project and capture the footage native?
OR
2. shoot at 25p and confirm to 24 in Cinema Tools ?
Thanks
Raj

January 28, 2008 at 6:45 pmif its the JVC HD series, its only 720P fyi.
How do you plan on capturing the tapes?
The firmware on the playback deck may have to be updated
to 1.08 so fcp can capture the 24p mode. (if you use the BR-HD50 deck) -

January 29, 2008 at 3:49 amif you capture it with the brhd50 deck, it has a 720P to 1080i scaler built in, but I think that only works for component.
What are you giving them to play it back with?
the size may not be relavant at all.

January 29, 2008 at 4:57 amI’m sure the camera has a fire wire out! I’m gonna open a project in FCP and digitize the footage. Simple!!
