Is there a way to share bins between editors? I work on FCP 7 and another editor on FCP 6. I needed to share my bins with her as I was the one who organized the raw footage into bins. Is it possible to share projects between FCP 6 and 7?

There are no “bins” in FCP, in the same way there is in Avid. In FCP, the project is one file, unlike Avid where each bin is a separate file. So no, you can’t just swap bins.

And you also cannot swap project files. Well, going from FCP 6 to 7…you can, FCP will update the project file to be FCP 7 compatible. But FCP 7 project files cannot be opened by FCP 6. You’ll have to open a bin, highlight all the clips, and export an XML (version 4) of that bin. you can also share cuts this way. But you might have an issue with relinking, unless your drives are perfect clones of each other, and have the same file paths.

FCP’s media management isn’t as robust as Avid.
