    Greetings,

Here’s the situation… I have six boxes in a formation. They’re all flattened (using psd as source), not AE native Shapes, or anything fancy. At various times, I need to animate a stroke around it. The simulated effect is a roll over state, with various buttons becoming ‘active’ with the stroke effect fading in.

Here’s the problem… When I animate the first box up (either on Z space or scale up), the stroke is accurately overlaps the second box. When I animate the second box, the stroke on its left seems to be behind the first box, but is fine over the third. The same thing happens down the line. Essentially, AE can’t seem to know which box is in front of the other, only in whatever top-to-bottom order in the comp.

Thoughts on how to fix this? Much appreciated,

    M
