  • Settings for capturing and viewing Pana 100a 24pA anamorphic and letterbox footage??

Posted by Mattole on May 24, 2006 at 2:05 am

I am really lost here.. been trying to capture 24pA footage shot with my Pana 100a to FCP 5.1.1. What should my capture and sequence presets be for the footage shot with an anamorphic lens, and for footage shot in letterbox? Does the letterbox footage need to be resized to be able to see the entire frame on my external monitor and if so how is this done? Does 5.1.1 allow the RT pulldown to be chosen for the highest playback quality? I see only the 2:2:2:4 option available, which renders the footage stuttery. The end product for this piece that I am editing will be a DVD made in DVD Studio Pro.

I feel way over my head in a sea of complexity here! Many thanks for your help..

Thanks Frank. I looked it over and set all the settings as instructed but the letterbox footage is still trimmed on the ends on my external monitor (but shows full frame in my browser window) and I still cannot seem to play back without the stuttering. Still cannot adjust the pulldown in the RT menu.

    Thank you Dave.

I did change the settings to 16:9 on my Sony studio monitor and the footage looks more stretched but still cropped at the corners. Hmmm..

    Matt,

It wouldn’t hurt you to read this one either.
