  • Setting up for a project shot on film

Posted by Scott Davis on May 29, 2014 at 5:44 pm

I’ve worked on projects that where shot on film; but posted and delivered in video. I have a short film now that might want to end up back on film. What should I be aware of while setting this project up? Is there a good resource that explains the workflow for film to Avid to film?

Thanks for any insight or thoughts.

The Avid user guide has a lot of information on managing film based projects with the intent of going back to film.

For starters, you’re first going to create a project that matches the video format/resolution and frame rate – for example, 1080p/23.976. Then select the film format in order to generate lists.

    Thanks Michael,

Quick question: If footage has already been imported in (at the correct format/resolution) but into a project where the film option was not selected; can I create a new project with the film option selected and bring the bins into this film project?

Yes, you should be able to.
