  • Setting up FCP 7.0 best OSX?

I’ve been out of the loop a few years and doing research on compatibility of FCP 7.0 with OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.

I have a 500GB partition to do a clean install, I have original disc for FCP Studio 3 7.0 and OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. I need to know if I clean install the disc and do not do any upgrades will this combination work properly.

I’ll open a project that was done within FCP 7 but most likely later than 7.0. and I’m working in ProRes. I also use Matrox MXO2 MAX and will download the appropriate firmware for that combination to view SDI signal to my Flanders Scientific LM-1760 for color correction.

If I need to update OSX or FCP 7 am I able to select which versions to work best.

    2 x 2.66 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    12 GB 1066 MHz DDR3
    ATI Radeon HD 4870

Thank you for any advice you have or pointing me to good reference material.

I would recommend you to install Snow Leopard, then update the system (Software Update: MacOs 10.0.6).
Once you have the system installed, install FCS3 and run Software Update to get the last FC version (FC.7.03).
You also needs to install the last version of QT Player ( 7.6.6 ?).

    Raf, I had problems with QT7 after up-grading Snow-Leopard.
Yet on my MBP going up to Mountain Lion 10.8 FCS3 runs perfectly.

    Cheers
