  • Setting up a LTO-6 Backup

Posted by Ed Kao on September 26, 2014 at 9:51 am

    Hi,

I am looking to setup a LTO-6 Backup Station

Backing up 40TB of data. Mac environment.

I will be using a 2011 Mac Pro, 16GB of RAM

Planning on purchasing Storage Loader LTO-6, 8 slots.

ATTO H680 or should I be looking at the R680?

Not sure what backup software I should use, any recommendations would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ed,

To the ATTO HBAs, either will work for tape depending on what else you plan on attaching to the system. The difference is that the R680 has built in hardware RAID support while the H680 doesn’t.

I would like to invite you to take a look at our TGL1800 solution as it includes everything that you need in one package – including the BRU Producer’s Edition software. There’s nothing else to buy and only one phone number to call with questions.

Scroll down to the TGL1800 under Automation and Library solutions.

    Hi Ed –
as you research alternate LTO backup systems, you will find other competing single drive systems that will
work for you, but for a tape library system, you will not find a better price and easy to use system
than the Tolis LTO system with the BRU software.

You can continue with CloudBacko Pro (https://www.cloudbacko.com/). It is backup all servers, databases, virtual machine and workstations. CloudBacko will keep backing up your data in the background continuously. When your computer is busy with high CPU usage or network traffic, backup will automatically be paused so as not to affect the computer’s performance. You try this software for backup
