I suspect that I am missing something obvious, but how do you “set” the duration length of an image in Vegas 7? I realize that you can pull the image to length, right on the timeline, but I am referring to manually entering the numeric time-length.

When I enter a images numeric time in the “Length” box of, say the Video Media Generator” (for a test pattern), the setting does not seem to change the length of the image on the timeline.

    Thanks! Gary

After setting the numeric duration, drag out the event until you see the notch appear along the top of the event.

To change the defaults, go to Options – Preferences. On the “Editing” tab you can change the default length for stills and generated media. You can also create a selection area on the timeline and then new generated media will be in that area and set to that length.

Ahhh, I now see “the knotch”. Gary, that’s very helpful and good to know.

And, I understand that in the Prefs one can set the default image length.

But, is there no way to simply enter an image “duration”, numerically–in its properties–and have it expand (or contract) to that size. I grew accustomed to that handy feature in Ulead MSP.

    Thanks!

You can via a script. Excalibur will let you do that.
