  • setting frame rate to 25fps and it outputting to 30fps randomly

Hey can anyone help me please, this is driving me nuts and perhaps there is something obvious I am not doing correctly, I’m working in AE and I have generated, a matte using Keylight from a 40sec 4kdpx sequence, I want to drop the rendered matte back on top of my original 25fps dpx sequence but every time i render my matte at 25fps it does’nt match my original dpx sequence because the frame rate keeps outputting to 30fps

I am working in CS3. On the lastest Mac pro. Everytime I render my composition settings are set to 25fps, I have clicked on the view in Alpha mode in the AE composition window and I have put the render settings to alpha only, in best settings I have set the frame rate to both 25fps and set frame rate to composition settings which is also 25fps, I have rendered as png sequence at 8bits at 25fps and tga sequence at 25fps and I have also render as tiff sequence at setting my frame rate at 25fps everytime and it still keeps rendering to 30fps……. can anyone help solve this mystery ?

Let me try to “solve the mystery”

You are working with image sequences, so first of all you have to interprete your sequence (footage) correctly.

You probably have your preferences left at default settings, so every time you import image sequence – AE interpretes its frame rate as 30fps.

Select your sequence in the project panel – hit Cmd-F, and change its frame rate to 25.

(If you live in PAL world, you can set this interpretation as default, by changing AE’s preferences.)

Put your sequence into new comp (25fps), make a matte and output it to whatever you want.

If you output it into sequence and import it – AE will set its frame rate to its default – as set in preferences, so if you didn’t change the preferences – it will be again interpreted as 30fps.
You will have to interprete it again.
